Simple Text For Learning English

Simple Text For Learning EnglishIf you are looking for a simple text for learning English then the next place to look will be on Google or Bing. However, it is better to have a practice or online tutorial with the latest text, which is designed to provide you with a realistic and genuine English experience. In short, if you want to know how to speak English properly, then you must use a text with words and phrases from the real English vocabulary. This will give you the most realistic way of learning the English language without any ridiculous pronunciations or certain grammatical errors. You must also use a tutorial that allows you to learn to speak the English language at a pace that you can comfortably handle. It will help you understand the essentials of the language without being bogged down by complicated sentences. It will also give you the flexibility of being able to pick up the language and study at your own pace. However, many sites these days are simply designed with very ba sic grammar and punctuation and do not offer you any help with your common sense. Most of them are made by people who do not even know English and it is doubtful whether they understand the nuances of the language. This is a very bad thing for anyone who wants to learn the language for better communication. So, it is better to get a text that is clear and simple, does not require too much thought, and offers a good number of options in both subject and verb based lessons. Also, it must give you the option of watching interactive videos, articles, and audio clips, so that you can listen to the English language. This is something that most tutorials these days forget to include. These videos are really useful, as you can easily review the lessons whenever you have time. You also get to see how the other people around you speak the language and this is a great way to learn the basics of the language without having to buy any books or enroll for any courses. The best option is to use a tex t that is designed by an English native speaker who also has an extensive knowledge of the language. This is the best way to know the basics and get a feel for the way the language is spoken in the different countries and also understand some of the quirks of the language such as using different terms for the same subject. You must be aware that English is a language that has evolved over the years, with every country trying to export its language to the rest of the world. So, as a learner, it is important that you choose a text that is in the modern version of the language.

Learn How to Change Guitar Strings Improve Guitar Sound Tune

Learn How to Change Guitar Strings Improve Guitar Sound Tune Suzy S. Learning how to change your guitar strings may seem daunting, but new strings can make a huge difference in the sound and intonation of your guitar. Let guitar teacher Noaa R. walk you through the process step by step Changing your guitar strings is an essential maintenance skill. In addition to sounding bad, old strings are difficult to play and prone to breakage. Strings should be changed at least on a monthly basis, and more often if you can afford it. Changing them is very easy, fortunately. Here’s how: Materials: -New Strings -Wire Cutter -Needlenose Pliers -Tuner -String Winder (optional) It’s best to change the strings one at a time so that the tension exerted on the neck doesn’t fluctuate too much. Heres the step-by-step process for how to change guitar strings: 1) Remove Dead String Loosen the string using the tuning machine. If you have a string winder, this is much faster. Pull the end out of the tuning post and clip the bent portion. This leaves the string tip straight so that it can be easily pulled out through the bridge by the ball end. Wrap and discard. Needlenose pliers can be useful here for extraction, especially if one of your strings has broken and a curly fragment is lodged in the post of the tuning peg. 2) Insert New String Unwrap the fresh string and insert the straight end through the appropriate hole in the bridge. With a Stratocaster-style bridge, this insertion point is accessed under the panel on the back of the guitar. On other guitars with front-mounted tailpieces, such as Les Pauls, the insertion points are found at the back of the tailpiece just behind the bridge. Pull the string all the way through until the ball end catches securely. In most acoustic guitars, the strings are held in place by small pegs called bridge pins. You can remove them using a coin or a pick for leverage, or with special tools found in almost any music store. Feed the ball end about halfway down the peghole and insert the pin, lightly pulling up on the string until you feel it wedge snugly. The goal is to trap the ball end between the narrow tip of the peg and the wall of the cavity. If pulling on the string pops the peg out of place, start over. It takes a little practice to get the feel for this, but you’ll pick it up quickly. 3) Secure String And Tighten To Pitch Pull the string all the way through the appropriate string post until it is taut, then pull it back out about one or two fret lengths to create some slack. Then kink it around the string post to set the length and tighten, counterclockwise, until your tuner indicates the desired pitch. A string winder speeds this process, but be careful not to overtighten as the string may snap. As the string wraps around the post, guide the protruding string end so that the coils sit nicely on top of and around it, keeping it secure. Clip the excess length from the post and discard. 4) Stretch String The string, under tension for the first time, will naturally drop in pitch. To condition it, fret the string with one hand at the 12th fret. With the free hand, place a thumb against the guitar for leverage and use your fingers to gently pull the string up and down about an inch from the body for 15-20 seconds. The pitch will drop significantly; tune it back up to the correct note and repeat. Be careful not to pull too vigorously, especially with the smaller strings, as you run the risk of snapping them. With each stretch, the amount of pitch correction required will decrease. When a stretch results in little to no change in the string’s pitch, you’re done. Move on to the next string and repeat the process. 5)  Repeat Steps 1-4 With Remaining Strings 6) Fine Tune And Jam Once all the strings have been changed and excess material has been discarded, give each string one more quick stretch and retune. You’re done! Enjoy the newly-rejuvenated sound of your instrument and the slick, smooth mobility of fresh strings! Now go practice!! How to Prepare for Your Med School Admissions Interview Part 3

How to Prepare for Your Med School Admissions Interview Part 3 By Michelle Finkel, MDInsider Medical Admissions The following piece was written byDr. Michelle Finkel. Michelle has been featured in ourAdmissions Expert seriesand is a former Harvard Medical School faculty member. She is the founder ofInsider Medical Admissions. You never get a chance to ruin a first impression, and, unfortunately, the stakes are particularly high getting into medical school. Its important to make sure the fine points of your interview day are smooth and in check. Please take a look at my July Varsity Tutors blog entry on medical interviews for advice on how to let your story show your glory and how to fake it until you make it. Also, check out my August entry reminding you that you can run, you can hide, but you cant escape. Lets start by reviewing some subtleties of the interview day. You can check out anytime. But you can never leave. One day, years ago as a Harvard faculty member, I was again spending the morning interviewing applicants for our emergency medicine residency program. Over lunch, we discussed each candidate, and one in particular stood out. He was impressive in every way academics, extracurriculars, commitment to the field. He seemed like the total package. Each of my colleagues who had interviewed him (I had not) spoke very highly of him until we had gone around the room to the last faculty member. This physician paused and then rather unexpectedly and emphatically said that he would not recommend ranking the applicant favorably on our Match list. This statement seemed quite odd, considering the previous rave reviews, and there was a bit of a rumble in the room. The physician continued, explaining that the applicant was from California and had said that he loved California and wished he could stay there. Why should we rank him highly if he isnt interested in us? the faculty member asked his colleagues. Little did the applicant know that with that one stray remarked, he had completely ruined his chances of a Harvard slot. So, when interviewing for medical school, watch for the Hotel California problem. You do not want an institution to overlook you because you have not convinced them of your willingness to move and be in their city. Show enthusiasm for where you might be for the next few years. Its a good idea to even spend a few minutes practicing how you would answer questions like, What do you know about the city were in? or What will you do during your free time here in Houston? If you have a social support network in the area, its worth mentioning because if the interviewer has qualms about whether youll move, she might be reassured. My brother lives here in St. Louis, and he has loved being here, might help. Definitely dont let on to hesitations you might have about a move. Its not that geography is not important. On the contrary, I think it is sometimes more important than the reputation of the school. However, there is no reason to harm your candidacy by showcasing your worries about an institutions location. You can make a pros and cons list about the schools location once youre accepted. That's Amore There is a psychological principle worth knowing: If someone thinks you like him, he will, in turn, like you more. When I was interviewing applicants, those candidates who had done their research always impressed me. They seemed to be organized, thoughtful, and enthused about our institution. Their enthusiasm often translated into mine. Before you arrive at your interview, you should know the institution backwards and forwards. Study the website, talk to students who attend, read about the associated hospitals. Be familiar with the schools curriculum, extracurricular activities, and research opportunities. Have some very specific questions to ask your interviewer that demonstrate your intimate knowledge of the school and your belief that you could be a contributing member of the class. Doing your due diligence will not only demonstrate your keen interest, but it will also help you in making future decisions about where to attend. In the next entry, Ill cover more fine points that can make or break your interview day. The views expressed in this article do not necessarily represent the views of Varsity Tutors.

5 Tips for an Introvert in a Leadership Position - Introvert Whisperer

Introvert Whisperer / 5 Tips for an Introvert in a Leadership Position - Introvert Whisperer 5 Tips for an Introvert in a Leadership Position Kayla Matthews December 18, 2018 Leadership No responses Go to top Introversion and leadership might not seem to go hand in hand at first glance, but employers who think the two are mutually exclusive are missing out. You have several advantages as an introverted leader over your extroverted peers. Introverts make excellent leaders due to their thorough problem-solving skills, ability to focus on tasks without the distraction of talking to colleagues and productivity-based motivation. If youve recently gotten appointed to a leadership position, its normal to feel uncomfortable. But you can still have a thriving career in leadership as an introvert â€" and you might even find yourself enjoying it. To help you get settled into this role, here are five tips for flourishing in leadership. 1. Use Your Natural Talents of Listening and Learning Dont try to masquerade as an extrovert to fit into a leadership role. Instead, channel the unique skill sets you have as an introvert and embrace your leadership style. Introverts have a reputation for their natural ability to listen first and talk later â€" a skill many of your extroverted counterparts may lack. Use this natural talent. Ask your employees and co-workers for their ideas, thoughts and complaints, and actively listen to them to create innovative solutions in the workplace. Your attentiveness will make them feel truly heard, and youll be able to thoroughly think through your guidance and feedback for the best possible solutions. 2. Step out of Your Comfort Zone â€" Occasionally Even the most introverted leaders occasionally have to stand up and make a speech or organize a large business meeting. Put yourself out there â€" force yourself to participate in small talk with a group of your colleagues and clients. If the idea currently sounds difficult, try taking some public speaking classes to get in the habit of addressing groups. At the same time, dont force yourself out of your comfort zone so much you become too stressed or tired out. Take some time to yourself each day to rest, recharge and think about your strategy. 3. Write Down Your Thoughts When you do need to address large groups, it helps to prepare. Introverts like to take time to think through their ideas before presenting them, and they often feel more comfortable writing things down than saying the first thing on their mind. Ask for meeting agendas in advance, so you have time to collect your thoughts on the subject. Type up a one- or two-page paper summarizing your ideas and questions concerning the speaking points. When it comes time for you to speak, use your notes to guide you in the right direction. 4. Understand the Importance of One-On-One Conversations Large meetings can understandably be intimidating, but you can use other methods to communicate with your staff. Sometimes, one-on-one conversations can be more powerful, as well as easier to handle. Try to catch up with colleagues during private lunches, personal meetings and reflections in small groups, and space out large meetings for when theyre necessary. 5. Dont Label Yourself Most introverts shy away from leadership roles. They expect to feel fearful, worried, nervous or upset in group settings because of their quiet nature. But in reality, the only thing holding you back is your mind. Let go of your label as introvert and be yourself. Think positively and be confident about your ability to lead â€" after all, you earned your leadership position because your peers felt you had potential. Make the Most of Your Leadership Skills You may have never envisioned yourself in a leadership role, but that doesnt mean you wont find success in your position. You have plenty to bring to the table, so put your unique skills to work to be the best you can be as an introverted leader.
